A wish list is a very useful tool in today’s fast pace, tech savvy world.  I find that it not only helps your dear ones to peer into the world that is ‘you’, but it also helps as a reference tool for yourself.  Once I add to my wish list, I can return to that item and all the others I had my eye on, without spending too much time trying to find it again.

Can’t decide whether you want to fragrance your home with reed diffusers or candles?  Well, if you’re like me, then the answer is of course, both!  While both home fragrance solutions have captured my heart, here are some tips to help you differentiate which will work best for you.

Candles have been a long-time staple in most homes.  They create an instant, warm ambiance when lit and are available in an endless variety of fragrances that remind us of blissful occasions in our lives; the smell of lavender instantly brings me back to childhood while a pineapple infused candle makes me crave that instant beach vacation because the last one was oh so fun!  They add a welcoming warmth to a home when burning, all the while manifesting a lasting fragrance to entice the senses.  The main advantages of a candle versus a diffuser?  Candles let off a stronger, more concentrated fragrance while providing a relaxing ambiance that’s almost immediate.

A reed diffuser’s fragrance is more subtle than a candle with a consistent, permeating quality.  Unlike candles, diffusers do not have to be lit.  Simply place the reeds into a vessel infused with fragrance oil and let the aroma seep up into the air.  Flip the reeds every couple of weeks for a continuous fragrance.  What I love about diffusers is that they offer a constant aroma in the home without having to light or distinguish a flame.  Over time the fragrance will seem less aromatic, however, this does not mean that the diffuser is not working.  Consider when you first discovered your favorite cologne or perfume, and how over time the fragrance seemed less vibrant than it did when you first started wearing it.  Diffusers, like any fragrance, respond in the same way.  The more you become accustomed to a fragrance, the less obvious it will be.  But don’t let that discourage you…keeping a diffuser in your home will most definitely have a positive impact, especially on your guests!  It’s a sure fire way to ensure that your home is always welcoming and enjoyable.  The main advantages of a diffuser versus a candle?  Diffusers disburse their fragrance consistently, day and night, with no flame, no soot, no fuss.

For the perfect home fragrance solution I suggest a diffuser to allow for a constant fragrance complimented by a warm, crackling candle to entice the senses.  That’s my magic combination…what’s yours?

k. hall designs was founded in 1997 by Kelly Hall-Barr and husband John Barr.  k. hall designs specializes in aromatic home and personal products and is located in a vintage 1940’s style warehouse in St. Louis, Missouri, where all the magic happens.  Here they not only manufacture their products, but also have a small vintage store front for curious customers that pass by.

One of the most unique features about k. hall’s products, besides their distinct aromas, are their recyclable glass containers in which their candles are poured.  After the candle is done burning, one can freeze out the rest of the wax to reuse the glass container.  Kelly and John suggest the container be reused as a drinking glass, for that is what they do with theirs!!

Their candles are made from a mixture of almost 100% natural resources.  Most of the candles are a blend of vegetable, soy and other waxes for a denser appeal.  Their wicks are completely cotton core wicks.  These waxes and cotton core wicks, which are renewable resources, are produced by American Farmers and are no less than 95% natural.
