Modern Solutions for an Organized Work Space

Posted By: Jennifer  In: Desk and Office, Home Decor, Interior Design, The Home

rooenzopapertray500Work is not always a place one likes to be.  Whether it be the unorganized filing system that has colonized itself on your desk or the dullness that surrounds your workspace daily, it can be difficult to focus and accomplish even the smallest of tasks.  Organization is key when it comes to keeping focused and stress-free.

At Rain Collection we offer a number of products that will not only help organize your workspace, they will have others talking around the water cooler about how stylish your desk looks.  Stacking a couple of our Enzo Desktop Paper Trays on one side of your desk will help you keep track of the paperwork you can never find but is always right in front of you.  These paper trays, made of solid Indian Rosewood and darkened roomagnifyerwithmetalbase304 brass, subtly say classy and organized.

Paper trays will keep your paperwork organized but what about all the letters, business cards, and notes that always seem to go missing when you need them most?  A Desktop Card Holder is the perfect storage device for them and is a versatile piece that will coordinate perfectly with the Enzo Paper Trays.

Time is money so every minute counts in the world of business.  Keep track of every minute with the Star Desk Clock and stay fashionably on time.  The granite base and silver star with brass detailing will give a little extra shine to your office decor.

When reading those dull reports, presentations or even important contracts, don’t miss out on the ‘fine print’ that could leave you responsible for tasks you did not know you signed up for.  Use a Magnifier with Metal Base and never miss out on the small specifications again.

Stay stylish and organized with Rain Collection’s selection of fine office accessories.

Responsible Luxury: Recycling Candle Containers

header

You’ve snuffed out your candle for the last time. So now what? You have this beautiful glass vessel and no wax to burn. This got us thinking - how can we recycle all of these glass candle containers?

Working with the team here at Rain Collection we have come up with a short list of ways you can reuse these beautiful pieces.

  • Change jar for coins
  • Burning tea lights
  • Drinking glasses (especially k.hall)
  • Potpourri
  • Store seeds
  • Candy dish
  • Bath salts
  • Forks/knives/spoons for outdoor entertaining
  • Store cotton, q-tips and other bathroom items
  • Vase
  • Store nails, bolts, etc.
  • Store seashells

This list is a work in progress for us. We are always trying to find unique ways to recycle the luxuries we enjoy. We hope this quick list will help you find ways you can reuse your beautiful glass candle containers too.

Current Fixation: The Illusions of Spring

  fringestudio

As the morning sun rose and out came Punxsutawney Phil I pondered what would happen, if we would be doomed for another 6 weeks of winter, or, if by some miracle chance, spring would arrive early this year. Now although I don’t typically buy into this sort of American folklore, somehow I couldn’t resist the possibility of a miraculous outcome. Could it be that spring may just arrive early this year? Low and behold out came our furry friend Phil - six more weeks of winter before we feel a shred of warmer temperatures and sunny days.arcmagnoliacandle304

As we enter February I begin to daydream about the hibernation season coming to a close. Anticipation sets in for the upcoming months and I can’t help but to begin acquiring my spring wish list. A must-have every spring is an Archipelago Botanicals Magnolia Candle.  The very fragrance brings me back to when I was just a child playing under the giant magnolia tree blooming in the front yard.

fpbaobabbodysouffle304An absolute staple for this time of year is Fruits and Passion’s Baobab Whipped Body Souffle. If you are unable to vacation in the midst of the winter months, then this, my friends, is the next best thing. The luxuriously whipped body butter carries a delicate and tropical aroma that entices the senses and embraces the feeling of the Caribbean. So even if you can’t get away, there’s always the power of illusion.

And as the winter’s end nears and I attempt to dress lighter in this arctic weather we have been experiencing, somehow it just doesn’t seem to be fulfilling. I’ve even introduced my new pair of peep toe Michael Kors sandals into the blistering cold hoping that maybe, just maybe, if my feet can pretend that spring is here, then perhaps so can I. In the meantime, I’ll have to rely on my wish list, daydreams of tomorrow and fresh flowers in a whimsical vase from Fringe Studio.

Current Fixation: Menswear Inspiration and Multi-functional Statements

whaticravejan2010

My eye is always on something new at Rain Collection, and my wish list always growing.  I have this obsession for constantly reinventing my space and myself, and a love for finding the perfect piece for that perfect statement.

When the Jan Barboglio Pajaros Vessel first arrived I fell in love.  This type of love only comes around every so often, and I have already mentally placed this vase in multiple vignettes in my home.  As one of the most inventive and creative artists of our time, Jan Barboglio creates a world of perfect juxtapositions with each piece she designs: masculine yet feminine; rustic yet elegant.  An artist sure to bring a statement piece to every home, one to be loved and used time and time again.

Quartz Salt and Pepper Shakers anyone?  A perfect solution to having a set that can go from your cupboard to your dinner table in two seconds flat.  I love the natural raw element of the quartz this set brings to any situation, not only because it’s oh so elegant, but the risk of breaking these as they fall out of my overstuffed cupboard is highly unlikely (yes, this has happened one too many times).

And what woman’s wardrobe wouldn’t be complete without the perfect go to handbag?  When Rain Collection introduced Kisim last year, I made an omen to carry every bag in this incredible collection.  What I’m craving now?  Kisim’s Cutout Bag in Brown.  A menswear inspired, nylon tone on tone striped bag with leather trim.  Classic combination = Instant chic for a girl on the go.

On Trend: What’s New for Spring 2010

sunburstmirrorpvbronzemeshnecklaceclusterringposadapapertowelholderchistripefloormats

Fall and Winter 2009 accessory trends have celebrated heavy metal and other oversized natural elements. As we close the Winter season and prepare to enter Spring 2010 we are still seeing a lot of these trends, but they will be enhanced with new colors and textures.

Jewelry spent Winter being oversized and exaggerated. This is a trend that will not be going out of style anytime soon. Spring keeps the larger, embellished characteristics, but this time brings with it an organic influence. Look for silver mesh, beadwork, floral motifs, lucite and marcasite.

Chanel runway shows an abundance of rough-hewn edges in its Spring 2010 Ready to Wear collection. These raw finishes give a subtle, understated edge to otherwise conservative pieces. You will see this disheveled look throughout all types of accessories and apparel. Looks like we are all ready to let go and live a little!

Handbags are getting smaller for Spring 2010. Look for fringe, pouches, natural details and delicate, long straps. The color palette for handbags will range from stunning neutrals to eye-catching, bold colors.

Runway trends directly inspire accessories in both the home and personal categories. We are excited to see what is coming throughout this new year. We will continue to discuss relevant trends and highlight the latest pieces to keep you and your home in style! Spring selections will be arriving at Rain over the next few weeks. 2010 is beautiful and a refreshing breath of fresh air. Get ready for Spring 2010 because the runways were amazing!
